Case Note No. 20 December 5, 2025
Hello again, it's Ms. AAngyl here. As I look over Margaret's shoulder from on high, I notice that there has been a peak in traffic at our website lately, even though neither of us has posted anything new in months. So that just doesn't seem right/write for our fans! It may be because she has been busy posting from a saddle while riding on Rika's back, instead of posting something new in her Magic Watch blog! Admittedly, her schedule has been fairly full since Rika's and Serafina's two foals, Khady and Legacy, were weaned in August and then halter-trained for a month, and then Rika went back to work, in a riding refresher course with trainer Mike. So today I'll step in and do some writing for her. Being a unicorn guide, I oversee everything that goes on in her life, and make sure that she receives her fair share of synchronicities and other spiritual treats, lest she forget to whom she's connected. (How did you like that slick Magic Carpet synch we pulled off in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and at Monte Velho Equoresort in Portugal? She wrote about it in her Feb 24, 2025 Magic Watch blog. We higher-ups had a good chuckle over that one.) I like to make sure that my equine therapy patient's life on Earth is punctuated with lots of magic moments that she will notice, and be inspired to share with others. (Of course, in the higher levels of reality where we unicorns live, time and space are continuous, so it's a simple matter for us to check schedules and throw together a nice mix of experiences for her enjoyment.) Lately, we had fun with some happenings in Santa Maria, California. It started with her need to have a routine medical procedure done in that city in August. It was necessary for her to stay there for several nights, so I made sure that her online search for a hotel directed her to a bargain-priced stay at the Historic Santa Maria Inn, a local landmark of which she was unaware. The inn was built in 1917 by Frank McCoy as an "old English style country inn" and celebrity retreat, to accommodate well-heeled overnight guests making the two-day trip from Hollywood to William Randolph Hearst's lavish mansion in San Simeon. Margaret enjoys old hotels, and while she was staying there, she had plenty of time to explore the fascinating interiors, furnishings and decorations at the Historic Santa Maria Inn. She particularly enjoyed the large murals depicting stage coaches with lots of fine-looking horses. An unusual feature of the hotel is that many of the doors in the older section are embellished with large brass stars engraved with the names of celebrities who stayed in the rooms in the past. She had lots of fun walking down the halls reading all the famous names on the doors, and imagining their stays long ago. But I had a special treat in store for her. If you have read Meant To Be, or the Unicorn Connections piece I posted in my Aangyl's Blog on 06.06.23, you may recall that when Margaret and I first met, my "barn" name was Doris. That's because my Saddlebred father was named Sultan's Great Day, so somebody thought it was cute to call me Doris Day. (Margaret preferred to immediately rename me Angel.) Anyway, imagine Margaret's delight when she discovered that one of the rooms in the old inn, just down the hall from hers, had been occupied in the past by none other than Doris Day! Of course she wanted to move to that room, and was able to do so on the last night of her stay. Some people say that the old hotel is haunted, but Margaret has no concerns about talking to friendly people who have crossed over happily, especially a horse lover like my namesake, Doris Day. She did some online research to learn all she could about Doris Day, and then went to sleep hoping she might hear from Doris, perhaps in a dream. That did not happen. But the next morning when she awoke, the clairaudient voice in her head was playing a song that she had not heard since childhood. She was hearing Would You Like To Swing on a Star? Carry moonbeams home in a jar? And be better off than you are...? When she checked online to discover who had made that song a hit, long before her time, of course, of course, she learned that it was Doris Day! Fun, fun, fun! But wait, there are more benefits to working with unicorn guides! During her stay, Margaret ate a few meals at the Century Room, a lovely restaurant overlooking a lushly landscaped patio area at the hotel. She got to know the friendly wait staff, and learned that this restaurant is famous for its all day Thanksgiving meal, and was strongly advised to book early. So she did so before checking out, reserving a special table by the patio, and returned to an incredible meal there on Nov 27, 2025. And to her amazement, was charged an unbelievably reduced price for seniors! Her friends who have lived in California for years could not believe the hidden treasure she had discovered! What can I say? It helps to have friends in high places LOL.
